Hands Across the Water is raising money to build a permanent orphanage for 30 young children in Thailand who were orphaned as a result of the Boxing Day Tsunami. They currently live in makeshift structures in the Takua Pa area. Money raised will build the orphanage, furnish it and provide further care.

The business of hunger in Israel is sadly booming, and the number of meals we provide for is a staggering 400,000, with numbers constantly rising. Currently more than 1.63 million Israelis are living below the poverty line - and the hardest hit includes children from broken or abusive homes, battered women fleeing abusive relationships, Holocaust survivors, and victims of terror. Hazon Yeshaya provides for all these people, regardless of their religious or racial background. Since its inception in 1997 Hazon Yeshaya has ensured that everyone in need receives a hot meal every day of the week at 60 locations around the country. The charity also provides 4,000 meals to children in 25 schools and runs day centres, school programmes as well as vocational training and free dentistry. We need to raise sponsorship for our third cookbook - 'Have We Got More Food For You' - following our previous two best-selling titles which raised over £175,000. We are looking for donations so that all the money raised from our book sales will be converted straight into hot meals. The charity was set up in May 2008 to help restore the lives of those devastated by Cyclone Nargis in the Irrawaddy delta region of Burma. It has helped over 10000 people with food aid, rebuilt many houses, and aided farmers.
