Justgiving lets people donate to charities online.
It’s easy, quick and tax-friendly.

Our goal is to help people raise as much as they can for charity by providing an excellent service to as many people as possible.

We have thousands of member charities although we’re not a charity ourselves. Our online fundraising pages make raising money and donating easy and they’ve helped transform the way people fundraise – the rest is down to the amazing and creative ways you use them.

We believe in giving all charities the same opportunity to raise huge amounts of money, including the smaller ones who can’t afford to spend lots of money on technology, freeing them up to concentrate on what’s important – whether it’s medical research or running the local playgroup.

It took us five years to break even, and our investors have yet to get a penny back – we’re very grateful to them for taking a pretty big risk and putting up with losses of £5 million to get us here.

You can ring us up at our office in central London (yes we’re really here, no annoying robots) or if you’re in the area you can pop in for a cup of tea and, if you’re lucky, a slice of cake.

Here’s our story so far.

Our history

  1. 1999 Zarine, our CEO, decides to leave her posh city job to work full-time on this new−fangled internet charity idea she’s had. Everyone is used to the sound of a dial-up modem.
  2. 2001 Anne−Marie is so impressed with the idea that she leaves her posh charity job to launch Justgiving with Zarine and a few other webby types, from a tiny office in Soho.
  3. 2002 We make friends with the London Marathon folks and people start to take to the online sponsorship idea. We grow so much we have to move to a bigger office in Old Street. We also win a NMA award for best use of the web. Yay!
  4. 2003 We launch in the USA, to see if we can grow this online fundraising idea over there. It’s a big place, so we work hard to make an impact.
  5. 2004 After investing millions of pounds in our systems, and getting cosy with the taxman so we could automate Gift Aid reclaim, we break even for the first time. Woohoo!
  6. 2005 We break through the 1,000 charities mark thanks to Justgivers and their friends wanting a wider choice of charities to support.
  7. 2006 We dabble with mobile phone donations for a bit. People don’t really want them so we undabble. Meanwhile the site gets bigger with lots of clever people using it for things like birthdays, weddings and parachute jumps. We get inspired.
  8. 2007 We got lots of new techies to start on the next generation of Justgiving and move office to St Cross Street. There is a great place that does burritos.
  9. 2008 We buy shiny new servers and start working in earnest on the next version of Justgiving. There are over 4,800 charities using our site and millions of people have helped raise more than £250 million!
